Mission Ministries at Salem Avenue Baptist Church

The Missions Ministries at SABC are led by our Missions Ministry Team, which is made up of men and women with a heart for missions work. We sponsor a variety of mission efforts, all with the goal of bringing others to know Christ as Savior.

We support a number of other individual missionary families around the world: A couple who do college ministry in Cape Town, South Africa (Mission to the World, PCA); another family who serves in Eastern Africa (Campus Crusade for Christ); a ministry to Native Americans in South Dakota (Diamond Willow Ministries); a global pastoral support and training ministry (Future Leadership Foundation); a chaplain who ministers to the Boys and Girls Town of Missouri (Days of Hope Ministry) in St, James, Mo., Machaseh Children's Home ministry in Wyoming, Camp David of the Ozarks who bring children of prisoners to summer camp, and AWANA missionaries as we have a fully operating AWANA program at SABC.

In addition, we support mission efforts through several organizations: International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board, and the Missouri Baptist Foundation.

SABC has also taken short term mission trips to Malawi, Uganda, New Orleans, Joplin, Wyoming, South Dakota, Mississippi, and more.

Local Mission Opportunities:

The Shoe Closet is open each Wednesday from 1:30-4:30 to families in need or by making an appointment through our co-chairs, Sudie York at 364-0286 or Missy Sorrell at 364-0665. A couple times a year there is a shoe giveaway on Saturday. At that time, all shoes are on display and those in need can come in and be assisted by a church representative to receive the shoes they need.

The Food Pantry at SABC, headed up by Charles & Kay Rauls, distributes food to qualified families on the 3rd and 5th Wednesday afternoons. The families we assist are referred to us through Grace.

We do most of our benevolence through Grace, which is a Community Assistance Program that qualifies recipients through background checks. We assist Grace with the Christmas Stocking Project each year and other times as needed throughout the year.

Faith Food Distribution is a ministry that was started by Grace Fellowship Church. On the 3rd week of each month, food is given out to needy families in the community. Our church is responsible for one month a year but individuals are needed and welcome to help each month on their own.

For more information on mission work at SABC contact the church office at (573)364-4442.

We will continue to send people out, so that we might share Christ around the world. If you have suggestions for a mission project please contact the church office.
